Welcome! I have always liked the design of the MN12 Thunderbird since its debut in Ford showrooms in the fall of 1988. The LX Thunderbird was nice but it was the Supercharged Thunderbird SC that caught my eye with its ground effects, unique bumpercovers and the special 16" wheels. I purchased my first MN12 Thunderbird in 1999. It was a emerald green LX with the 4.6 L V8 engine. It was a great car and I drove it everyday over the next 7 years. I no longer drive the car as I have collected a few others (5 to be exact) that I alternate and drive on a daily basis. In 2010 I bought a 1995 Thunderbird SC with a 5 speed transmission. It is my most cherished thunderbird. The car is a pretty solid northern car and although it was mechanically sound, I wanted to restore the car to how it was when it rolled off the Loraine, Ohio assembly line in 1995.

In order to accomplish my goal, the car has to be completely disassemble and all parts refurbished or replaced with OEM parts. Having restored old muscle cars in the past I knew this would be a challenge. Ford no longer carry alot of the parts and the complexity of the SC would create many challenges along the way. My goal is to complete the restoration in 5 years. I wish it could be sooner but I work full time and finding and refurbishing all the parts I need will take some time.

As I progress with the restoration, I plan on documenting everything I do so that others who plan to one day restore thier thunderbird will have someplace to go and find information on restoring this great car. Although the car I will be restoring is a Thunderbird SC, alot of these steps and procedures will apply to the LX Thunderbird and cougar XR-7 as well.
